WPF Apps

  • I notice that the percentage of apps that I’m running often that are .NET/WPF apps are ever increasing…vs2010, KaXaml, powershell_ise (in win7), Blend, blu. Beyond that:  LiveWriter is a .NET/WinForms app. Zune is a .NET/other app.  This is all good, because most Windows apps don’t need to load user/gdi because they are already loaded. Soon most WPF apps won’t need to load WPF assemblies because they’ll already be loaded by another app.

Are you sure that Zune is WPF app?

I read that it used some custom MediaCenter framework.

I would *love* to find it's WPF after all though. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of soft I used recently.

Zune software, is .NET, but is not WPF.  That is why I listed it as ".NET/Other".

Hi, I have templates (styles) for all wpf controls on http://www.xamltemplates.net, the questions is this: there will be a lot of changes from 3.5 to 4.0 regarding the styling of the controls in XAML?

Then why is it listed in the WPF Apps section? That is a bit confusing.

Oleg/John-

I put Live Writer and Zune software in a seperate sentence started with "Beyond that".  I'm sorry that wasn't clear.  Hopefully, it is clear now.

XAML Templates-

All your old styles will work in 4.0.

I'm personally unsure of how VisualStateManager will impact what will be possible in 4.0.  I could ask that part of my team for details, but it is probably something that you should just wait for the beta for, as the amount of details that we could provide would likely be insufficient.

Thanks, Rob
